Starting this journey as a business coach was a culmination of years of experience, passion, and a desire to help others succeed. Here’s a look at how it all began and the milestones that have defined my path.
Early Professional Beginnings:
My professional journey began with a deep interest in marketing. While earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, I immersed myself in the promotional industry, working with a local clothing company and record label to develop and implement effective marketing strategies for the brands. I remember being 22 years old and so excited to have my own business cards. Unfortunately, the owner of that brand took advantage of his young, inexperienced, and talented team, leading to the company’s downfall. From that experience, I learned the importance of being in control of my own successes and failures. This realization was the seed that sprouted the idea of TMalone Marketing.
Launching TMalone Promotions & Entertainment:
From that learned lesson, I created a promotional marketing company called TMalone Promotions & Entertainment. At this point, the TMalone brand was more focused on the management of musical acts and promotional events than traditional marketing. This guerrilla marketing approach honed my skills in crafting successful marketing campaigns. I quickly learned that the fastest way to accomplish things was to have every design element in-house. This realization led me to fully immerse myself in Adobe Creative Suite 2, primarily learning Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, and Premiere Pro.
From here, the TMalone brand was able to design for all events and create for other promotional companies in the space. We essentially became a one-stop shop for design and printing needs. I started by custom designing MySpace layouts via code, which transitioned into HTML websites. As social media grew, we incorporated it into our services. Even at the beginning of the social media era, we understood the importance of congruency in branding. We ensured that all social media accounts had matching handles for any client we had. Back then, this was an extra service thrown in for free! By starting out so early in the space, we were ahead of the curve on many digital marketing trends. As the brand began to take on more clients outside of the entertainment world, the company was officially renamed TMalone Marketing.
Embracing the Digital Age:
As the digital age progressed, I saw the immense potential and opportunities it presented for businesses. I became a Certified Digital Marketing Professional and a Certified WordPress Developer, allowing me to offer specialized services in these areas. My hands-on experience in creating and optimizing websites and executing digital marketing campaigns gave me a unique perspective on how businesses can leverage technology for growth. I was one of the first small business marketers to use content management systems for website design. For a while, this gave me an advantage over most of my competitors who were still using HTML and Flash at the time. I was able to fully launch websites that were more efficient and mobile-friendly than HTML, and in a shorter amount of time.
Staying Ahead of the Curve:
I truly believe that being ahead of the curve is what has kept TMalone Marketing in business for the past 20 years. My ability to anticipate and adapt to industry changes has been a key factor in my success. Now, my goal is not only to remain relevant in an increasingly competitive space but to leverage the skills I’ve acquired over the past two decades to continue providing exceptional value to my clients.
